With their abilities outmatched, Team Sonic must seek an unlikely alliance
Chronology
Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite to face a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with unprecedented powers. Check out the cast of some of your favorite animated films and series, including Keanu Reeves in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The film also draws on narrative elements from the Saturday morning animated television series Sonic the Hedgehog (1993)
The directors of the previous films have mentioned playing both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2001) and the single-player game Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) for inspiration. In the TV series Knuckles, Sonic said, “Robotnik is gone, and there’s no new battle to fight.” But in this film, he tells Tails and Knuckles that they need to ask Dr.
Robotnik to help them defeat Shadow The Hedgehog
Because of this, it’s unclear how they discovered he was still alive. Commander Walters: [on Shadow] The Shadow Project is far beyond anything we’ve ever encountered.
