They choose not to drink blood despite their natural desire, but the truth is revealed to them one day. Kelly Macdonald is strong as Helen Radley. Bo Bragason is also strong as Clara Radley. Damien Lewis and the rest of the cast are pretty vague and don’t really have any presence. The casting is a huge mistake. The story is about a family of vampires who no longer drink human blood. The problem is that there is no story. It’s more like a few days in the life of a boring vampire family. We wander from scene to scene, with nothing happening. There are constant scenes where people just look at each other or stare at the wall. Nothing happens and no emotion is conveyed to us. People just stand or sit, doing nothing for seconds. None of the characters, except for Helen and Clara, really have any personality. Probably one of the worst characters I’ve seen in a very long time is the pseudo-hippie vampire leader Will, also played by Damien Lewis. The character is not very well put together and Lewis’s second-rate acting skills can do nothing for the character. So we have mostly bad actors, a bad cast, with a bad script and amateurish cinematography and direction. Then we are told that this is not just a horror film, but a comedy. I just watched it and honestly I can’t remember anything funny happening during the entire show. It’s almost funny how bad the movie is, maybe that’s what they mean? Ultimately, there’s no point to the movie. There’s no point to it. It’s nothing more than a documentary about some boring middle-class vampires going about their daily lives in a boring way. It’s really annoying to watch and when the end finally came and a long, pointless speech was coming to an end, I said “Finally, thank God it’s over.” I give it a 2 and I think that’s generous.
