A family on a Montana ranch faces another intrusion on their property. Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd, is an expert in the world of rodeo. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and revert to the Southern California voice he normally uses. Yellowstone is a solidly written drama—great characters, well-crafted—that draws its tone from several different modern masterpieces. It has the feel and cinematography of Longmire, the plot and dark perspective of The Sopranos, and the dramatic dynamics of shows like “Dynasty” or any other similar network drama. You have to give Costner and Cole Hauser a lot of credit—these guys give it 100%. I didn’t expect to be drawn into this show the way I was. It’s worth your time.
