Roper Dishwasher Troubleshooting and Problems

Dishwasher Doesn’t Work or the Program Doesn’t start

Check if the plug is in securely; make sure there are no signs of burns on the wiring, that the circuit breaker has not tripped, and that the outlet is in order. If the dishwasher power switch is on but the program does not start, check the door latch. It should close properly so that the door switch is pressed and you need to hear the latch click. Adjust the latch with a screwdriver if necessary. Inspect the timer or programmer switch for faults and test if the water supply valves are turned on fully.

Dishwasher Doesn’t Fill with Water

Check whether the water supply valve is turned and examine the hose for kinks. A clogged float can also be the cause. Switch off the dishwasher and unplug it. Open the dishwasher and locate the float on the base. Take it out, clean any clogs and wash the float. Reposition it and test whether it moves freely. During washing, the float needs to move freely so that it can trigger the float switch to cut off the water when the dishwasher is full. If the problem is the opposite and the dishwasher doesn’t drain, check the drain hose for kinks.

Dishwasher Leaks

Make sure you are using the right amount of detergent. If necessary, use a little less next time. Switch off the dishwasher and unplug it. Inspect upper and bottom spray arms for splits and rotate them to check if they move freely. They can be removed and cleaned in warm water if required. Remove the panel at the bottom of the machine and inspect the water hose for kinks. It should connect tightly to the water inlet valve. In addition, if the machine is not properly leveled, this might be the source of the problem. Level it by adjusting the feet on its bottom using pliers or a wrench. Check whether the door switch is not pressed constantly even when the door latch has not closed tightly. Use a pencil to depress the door switch.
