Samsung Refrigerator Troubleshooting and Problems

Refrigerator Is Too Warm

If the refrigerator is plugged in, but not operating, check the electrical outlet before looking for problems with your Samsung refrigerator. Plug something else into the outlet to make sure there is power going to the appliance.

For refrigerators that aren’t cold enough, check the control panel to see if the temperature control is set properly. External conditions may also be a factor, such as sun shining directly on the appliance. If the refrigerator is still not cool enough, check to see how close it is to the back wall. If positioned too close, that can cause a problem; pull it out a little from the wall, and see if that helps.

Refrigerator Is Freezing Food

Instead of not being cold enough, the refrigerator might be too cold or freezing. First, check to see if the control has been set to the coldest temperature. Perhaps the room temperature is very low.

Look in the refrigerator for uncovered containers. Items with high water content or cups of uncovered liquid can cause a refrigerator to freeze up because of the condensation built up. If food is packed tightly in the refrigerator or against the refrigerator walls, this can inhibit necessary ventilation and cause problems for the appliance.

Different Refrigerator Noises

A noisy refrigerator may be the result of an unlevel or unstable floor. Place a level on the appliance to see if it is level and then make necessary adjustments.

Being too close to the back wall won’t just inhibit the cooling ability of the refrigerator, it can create noise. The funny noise may also be rattling from something you’ve placed on top of your refrigerator. If the noise is coming from the compressor, call 1-800-Samsung. Some sounds are normal, such as the ticking sound caused by contraction and expansion.

Ice Maker Problems

If your refrigerator has an ice maker that is not producing ice, check to see that the temperature in the freezer is set low enough. It will take about 12 hours after proper installation of the water line for ice to produce. If the ice storage unit is full or if the shut-off valve is closed, it will stop making ice.

Fridge Leaking Water Problems

If your Samsung fridge problems include a fridge leaking water, a few troubleshooting tips can help identify the problem before the water damages your floor. If the defrost drain is frozen, thaw the ice so the water can run freely again. Otherwise, water can spill over the drain trough and eventually find its way onto your floor.

If the water filter head is cracked, or if the seal around it is torn, water can leak around the filter head. And if the water filter housing is cracked, water can leak through any cracks. These are easy fixes. Simply replace the filter head, seal or housing with a factory-approved part.
